Why arent the leaving attackers ever attacked?

...a follow-up to my 'how can troops evade patrols' message.

Let us think of this kind of a scenario:

The Narri clan have attacked the Six Brothers, and managed to drive them off. They proceed to loot the area and leave with lots of cattle and goods.

Now then, why dont the Six Brothers attack them when they are leaving with all their cattle and goods? Considering that they have to protect their loot, and they probably feel victorius and dont even think about being attacked anymore, this might be an even better chance to beat them.

One might say that the Six Brothers morale is already too low after being beat once, but you'd think that they had plenty of time to recover while the Narri were looting their village.

Yet this never happens in the game.
