Do not include large sections of a message in your reply. Especially not to add "Yeah, I agree" or "No, I disagree." Or be excoriated. If someone writes something good and you want to say "good show" please do. But don't include the whole message you praise. 2. Use an appropriate Subject line. 3. Learn the art of paraphrasing: Don't just quote and comment on a point-by-point basis. 4. No anonymous posting, please. Don't say something unless you're ready to stand by it. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Date: Mon, 3 Aug 1998 16:41:24 +0200 From: Alain.RAMEAU@total.com (Alain RAMEAU) Subject: [RQ-RULES] Greyhawk's gods Tal, I am playing in Glorantha, but I like your adaptation to RQ of Greyhawks gods. However, you mention for each god some new spells which, I suppose, are AD&D spells, but without any descritpion as to their effects. Any intent to convert them also into RQ format, with some details ? And also thanks to Nick for his different position on this matter. I suppose Craig will be as satisfied as I am with those explanations. But now, please don't go too far ! Please, no theological discussions (especially pure Gloranthan one) on this *rules*-digest. If you want to carry on the discussion (which is of interest), I would be pleased to look at it, but on the glorantha-digest ! Concerning the Illumination rules themselves, I think there are some rules in the Cults of terror and Book Of Drastic Resolutions. As far as I remember, there is a new illumination skill, which is increased by 1% each time the player succeedd in answering one of Nysalor's riddles (which is associated to a relevant skill roll). Once the player reaches a certain level,he is entitled to certains benefits (such as the possibility to mask chaotic features, to resist detect truth spells/skills, and the like). Actually, with a very few exceptions, all of the spells I've mentioned are RQ spells; they have either appeared in published sources, or are available on the web. I've distilled them into one big file for my own consumption, but in alot of cases (well, lets be honest here, EVERY case) without proper referencing to the original authors. I'd go nuts at this point trying to backtrack where I got them all, but if you'd like, name the platform and I can send you a copy of my spell lists :) In cases where I have created the spells, I have tried to post descriptions to go with them, although I do have one writeup (Dalt's) that I'm still working out the specifics on (though they're basically CoC-esque Create Gate spells, in RQ format). - -- talmeta@bellatlantic.net - I *am* one of the Chosen Few! It was announced to us this morning that Hasbro has acquired the entirety of The Avalon Hill Game Company. All current employees of Avalon Hill have been terminated. This includes: Don Greenwood, Ben Knight, Stuart Tucker, Bill Levay, J.C. Connors, Christopher Lawrence, Rich Kuryk, Mark Glidden, and Steve Holmes. What does this mean for the future of Avalon Hill? We don't know. All titles and future titles are no the rights of Hasbro, including the upcoming Galaxy: the Arena and RuneQuest: Slayers. We wish we could tell you more. We don't have any more answers. But we do want to thank the loyal fans that have made Avalon Hill. It was your support that made us the grandfather of boardgaming. We all hope Hasbro continues this tradition. If anyone has any questions, you can e-mail me at home. I may not have much more to say, but I'll do my best. Having spoken to one or two people at the Convulsion who still had an interest in the Temple design I think it is still viable to ressurect the Temple construction project - after all it's only been dead a few months : ) I think, however, that this list mightn't be the best place to design it. After all, if we only have 20 contributers one person could put themselves forwards to coordinate the project, to ensure consistency and that people don't step on other people's toes (having two horns of atyar for instance) and another could set up a website (I mean, Geocities are giving them away...). Is ANYBODY still interested in designing an entire temple for Dorastor? And who was the person with the map? No, that NPC has not been writtenup as of yet. When I get home tonight I will post a list of material which has been done and by whom. For some of the material i did not take down the name of the author, so then the list comes out please send me an email claiming your work if you do not see your name next to it. I will also list the relative power rating for each NPC on a scale of 1 to 10. If you are going to write up a character please remember we are looking for a mixture powerful and not so powerful characters. We are currently somewhat power heavy not the characters we have. In addition we are looking for history for each character as well as their motivations and other information. The more the better. I would also like to see any other stuff which relates to the Temple (exp. new spells for Thanatari, or Cult items, or what not). any suggestions are also welcome. Possession is 9/10ths of the law. In this case, possession is whoever publishes it. (Although possession of the trademark itself is a simpler matter) Every day that goes by without a RQ publication by its legal owners brings us one day closer to RQ legally belonging to the fan network which continues to support it. Many days away, of course ... Actually, what I'm wondering is : Will RQ:S actually be published at all? *************************************************************************** To unsubscribe from this list send mail to majordomo@mpgn.com with the line 'unsubscribe runequest-rules' as the body of the message. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 05 Aug 1998 11:46:41 -0400 From: Tal Meta Subject: Re: [RQ-RULES] Temple of Heads Leon Kirshtein wrote: > > Tal, I think you were talking about a map for thew place?
