Do not include large sections of a message in your reply. Especially not to add "Yeah, I agree" or "No, I disagree." Or be excoriated. If someone writes something good and you want to say "good show" please do. But don't include the whole message you praise. 2. Use an appropriate Subject line. 3. Learn the art of paraphrasing: Don't just quote and comment on a point-by-point basis. 4. No anonymous posting, please. I have one character that more or less qualifies for Sword of Humakt, a Shaman, a Babeester Gor using the "Babeerster" writeup (which we are currently trying to fix) and a Wachazan that is fairly close to Warmaster status. Also, the newest character is an Issaries that has finally figured out how not to get killed every session. ;-) Obviously, this is a Glorantha game with very limited access to Heroquesting and (though they have barely figured it out yet) some very BAD things going on. I forget who mentioned it, but somebody said that they have been converting modules. Any recomendations on ones that convert well? Any recomendations on ones that convert well? Not AD&D modules, too much combat for a RuneQuest game. Besides plundering books for the odd magic item, trap description and set of maps (the MERPS introductory adventure made a great Jorstlandi Kingdom Keep) I'd say that the only modules I would seriously consider converting would be WFRP stuff - low on combat, high on detail and the world has just one too many similarities to RuneQuest as it is to make it easier for you (replace a WFRP chaos god for a RQ one and you get the same end result). I'll be converting Castle Drachenfels and The Dying of the Light soon enough - having run both with other groups for WFRP I reckon they'll slot in fine with my RQ game. I don't allow Multispells to be cast onto the same target (because you get examples like Philip gave of minmaxers working out the best result you can get, and it makes sorcerors devastating to meet when armed with Multispell and a half decent Evoke Lightning) and my players deserve a break and get one hit point for every intensity used in the Treat Wounds spell (I even allow Held Treat Wounds spells to go off when you fall unconsious, what a kind GM i am....) due to the general fatality of RQ. The game is a sort of advanced RQ, so conversion is no problem, maybe except for magic. All the background material and modules are set to Harn, an island in the world of Kethira (or something). The material is very good and detailed. But it is a completely different world than Glorantha. It is more similar to historical Europe as far as way of life and societies go. - -Terje "Never underestimate the bandwidth of a station wagon full of tapes hurling down the highway." -Tanenbaum ********************* Terje Tollisen Kjelsaasveien 99 0491 OSLO Norway ********************* *************************************************************************** To unsubscribe from this list send mail to majordomo@mpgn.com with the line 'unsubscribe runequest-rules' as the body of the message. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 26 Nov 1998 17:08:02 -0000 From: "Carter Craig, GMI ITD Exchange" Subject: [RQ-RULES] Active Campaigns Dear Listers Brad Furst asked about active campaigns so here we go. I have been running a number of different campaigns with two different groups on odd weeks with five in one group and six in the other. I use a mush of RQ2 and 3 or make it up as I go along if things get sticky. I base some politics-and-investigation style adventures in Prax/ Pavis and other monster-bashing ones in Dorastor. Now it my turn to satisfy my curiosity. I also run a CoC-based Werewolf variant and a CoC/Space 1889 mix which provides variety from Glorantha adventures. I'm interested in RPG's that other listers play, Glorantha/RQ or otherwise. If you don't want to waste digest-space, feel free to email me directly. I do. And I believe Bob Stancliff does. Others? I'm running a game once a month. Moonrise over Karse - -------------- The players are a Lunar Diplomatic Trade Mission to the city of Karse in 1616. Sartar has been pacified and they are sent south to re-open trading and diplomatic links with this strategicaly important city. The players started in Boldhome at a worship ceremony to the Seven Mothers, including singing 'O Little Town of Blest Torang', followed by a sermon by Brother Euchaios (A 7Moms preist PC) and finished off with a resounding recital of the Imperiale. The characters are invited to a meeting with Fazzur Wideread and his chief advisors where they are informed of their mission to Karse. They must evaluate trade opportuniies, transport sample trade goods, make diplomatic contacts, gague Karse's defences, make notes of (and perhaps eliminate) political opponents, etc. Many of the PCs also have secret personal objectives such as eliminating a Lunar renegade, obtaining a lost Imperial treasure, etc. I think it's one of the best games I've run so far.
