Do not include large sections of a message in your reply. Especially not to add "Yeah, I agree" or "No, I disagree." Or be excoriated. If someone writes something good and you want to say "good show" please do. But don't include the whole message you praise. 2. Use an appropriate Subject line. 3. Learn the art of paraphrasing: Don't just quote and comment on a point-by-point basis. 4. No anonymous posting, please. Don't say something unless you're ready to stand by it. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Date: Fri, 4 Dec 1998 11:12:30 -0600 (CST) From: Kevin Rose Subject: Re: [RQ-RULES] [WZL] Hasbro Speaks Tal Meta > Well, this sounds like a window of opportunity. I'm also not certain that hero wars is the going to do it for them, but at least it will produce background material. But there were large parts of AIG that were very nice. Others seemed to be changes for the sake of change. I'm not certain if AH has any rights to AIG or not. Plus there is the PR problem of some of the writers. But it would be nice to see if they could use the existing material and produce a game that would appeal to current players. RQ needs some rework, not complete destruction as slayers tried. All depends on whether they hire anyone who has a clue. I would not have a lot of expectations that they would choose a successful strategy. Not that they could really be less successful than AH, but that sort of goes without saying. Good question. Do you take into account the negative for size? I would. As for the DEX already figured into the category bonuses, maybe have dodge start at DEX x1. This would give an average base chance of 10% for most races. With the average category modifier the starting dodge for a human would be 17%? So maybe you would want to go with a DEX x2 for a average starting dodge of 27%. This has potential. Something to think on. As a GM, I like NPC’s with good dodges. It really infuriates my players when they are all tooled up with combat magic and make a hit only for me to roll a successful dodge, and then there is no damage. I still need to replace Dorastor, Vikings and TrollPack) Dom - -----Original Message----- From: Kevin Rose To: runequest-rules@MPGN.COM Date: 04 December 1998 17:16 Subject: Re: [RQ-RULES] [WZL] Hasbro Speaks >Tal Meta > >> Well, this sounds like a window of opportunity. If so, what was the consensus? Is there any rule or precedent to forbid or diminish POW gain for Familiars & Allied Spirits? Are they not like other character creatures? What am I vaguely remembering about a simple 5% chance per check?
