In Griffin Mountain there is a scenario that takes players to the source
of a chaos polluted river and states that only an advanced hero quest
ritual could plug the hole which chaos is leaking in. That's that only
example of it possibly being done ( and not easily at that) that I can
remember.- Kurt

This systems favours the hidden guy and give a disadvantage to the scanner
because in case of same succes level, the hidden one always win !

What about the Pendragon rule : in case of same level of succes, the winner is
the one rolling the highest score. A character with a high percentage skill will
generally win again a low percentage skill (which makes senses) if both succeed
same level.

	Two extensions will get you an hour, seven will get you over a day, and
ten is well over a week.  Since your priest could cast this for you, it is
far from impossible.  Still, I admit, it is hard for any chaos cultist to

	This doesn't agree with my memories.  Did you check Lords of Terror also?
 I recall Kerjalki having an ongoing power or spell that hides all of
their chaos taint until they want to show it.  Maybe I have the process
mixed up or backward in some way, and Grant Chaos Gift could be all their
is.

In keeping with this thread, I am starting to wonder as to how non Storm 
Bull cults check the new prospect.  Lets take a case of Yelmalio and an ogre 
who attempts to join.  How likely is he to be let in IYO?

I belive you are thinking of the Hellwood elves which worship Krejalk.  They 
have the ability to not detect as chaotic until they transform through the 
use of their spell.  Speaking of which did anyone ever come up with a 
procedure to determine their Krejalk form or do you guys just "wing it"?

	Any careful tester will use Soul Sight to see how many cults the person
is tied to (I believe that multiple cults will detect) and require that
they identify each of them.  These cults will be contacted to verify
membership, and if there is any irregularity, then the applicant fails. 
Any opposing cult memberships will automatically cause failure, and even
neutral cult affiliations will be closely questioned.
	If Soul Sight can't detect that a person is an Initiate to two cults,
then Ogres will just join one good cult, then join Cacodemon or something
else, and be able to lie about affiliations.  This probably isn't the
case.

	Hellwood is definitely the example, but wasn't the effect presented as
general to the cult?  Not just Hellwood specific?  The Kerjalki forms
should be as individual as chaos features can be.  I felt that the special
example was too closely elven specific, they were clearly themed and not
chaotic enough.

I do not belive so.  Soul Sight will show if the person is a member of a 
cult and if he is in good standing or not.

What is the ogre is not a member of any cult at the moment?

The effect was presented as specific to the Hellwood elves.

Agreed on the induviduality, but how to determine the mechanics for 
achivieving it?  The examples given were themed, but I would have to 
disagree about not being chaotic enough. A vampire, a giant scorpionman, 
etc. seems pretty chaotic to me.

Inspired by Tal, this is the first of several spells from a budding campaign world.
The City-States of Ishira have a light Phoenician/Babylonian/Mesopotamian icing.

Sheolic Snare
Sorcery spell, Ishiran College of Sorcery
ritual Ceremony, ranged, maintained
This spell lays a curse of an area of ground with a radius of Multispell^2 m. Every ensouled being
which dies within the area must resist the spell's Intensity with its MP. Failure means its spirit cannot go
to its destined afterlife as long as the spell lasts, but will roam the area as a pseudo-ghost. The caster has
no control whatsoever over these spirits, and they will probably attack him should he dare enter it.
They cannot normally leave the area. There is a 1% chance per month the spell is maintained (cumulatively)
that a certain ghost will be bound permanently to the area as a wrathful ghost or wraith.

Ship of Shamril
Sorcery spell, Ishiran College of Sorcery
ritual Summoning, touch, transient
This ritual calls forth a shimmering shadowy manifestation of the Ship of Shamril, the vessel used by the
hoary but just Guardian of the Underworld. The caster can, while in a trance, enter that vessel with a portion
of his being and travel the Spirit World, but only to the Nether Realms. For each point of Intensity, this manifestation (similar to the spirit form of a shaman) can have either 1 MP (which must be invested separately from the MP used to cast the spell) or 1 point of Presence. The manifestation is not the whole of the sorcerer's
soul, and if it is attacked, destroyed etc this does not harm the sorcerer's soul (his POW). However, since
his mind and consciousness (his INT) is travelling with the manifestation, it will be affected as normal by 
any dangers of the Underworld.
The spell can be Multispelled to allow other people to travel with the sorcerer, but he must always join them.
If he has an Ob (an Ishiran necromantic familiar) it needs 1 pt of Multispell to follow, but as a spirit can bring
its normal compliments of MPs, Presence etc.

Armaments of Shamril
Sorcery spell, Ishiran College of Sorcery
ritual Summoning, touch, active
The spell arms the caster with a manifestation of the armor and weapons of Shamril, which he uses to combat the Devourers and other evil spirits. The caster must devote the Intensity of the spell to either Attack (Shamril's Sword) or Defense (Shamril's Armor). While the spell lasts, the caster can initiate combat with spirits, but only if they are possessing someone or something on the mundane plane. He uses his Attack Intensity to attack, his Defense Intensity to defend, and any MP lost is lost to the caster. If he wins, he can do whatever he wishes
with the possessing spirit. If he loses, the spirit can attack him once, but only to possess if it leaves the body
or place it now inherits. The spell is, quite obviously, used for exorcism. However, it is also a good defense,
should the caster be attacked by manifested spirits. He cannot initiate combat with them on his own.

	If you don't have Storm Bull in your pantheon and invited to your
ceremony, then you're probably SOL.

	Were we discussing Kerjalk or any chaos feature?  The chaos tables are
guidelines, but they always have to be creatively described.  I don't know
any easy way for that.

Hey I just found a manuscript for sale on ebay that is supposedly an
Chaosium game draft for a unpublished post holocaust WOW expansion. This
reminded me of the list conversation earlier about the lost or
uncompleted Aztec source material for RQ. And that got me thinking.

There were a number of RQ products advertised as in production by
Chaosium that never made it to press. Does anyone know what happened to
them? Is their any way to get any of the material? I could look through
my pitifully small stash of Different Worlds and Wyrms Footnotes to get
a list of some the the material that was advertised, if that would be
helpfull.

To the best of my knowledge, and I was there at the time, there was never an 
official plan for a post-Holocaust WOW expansion, and I was the WOW guy. We 
started work on another WOW set, but it never got past Demon World, and not 
much of that happened. I got sidetracked on the full box Superworld, and then 
Elfquest, and by then they had decided that WOW was pretty much a failure.

SETS (Special Environments for Twentieth century Scenarioes) died due to the 
busy life of the slated author, Michael Blum.

Greg Stafford's maps of Dragon Pass project essentially ran into the problem 
that Greg was essentially drawing the same map over and over with slight 
terrain differences. He was making it very authentic to the type of era, and 
it was eventually boring. Was useful as the basis for a lot of Chaosium 
office games, though.

HeroQuest. Never heard of it... :-)
