Do not include large sections of a message in your reply. Especially not to add "Yeah, I agree" or "No, I disagree." Or be excoriated. If someone writes something good and you want to say "good show" please do. But don't include the whole message you praise. 2. Use an appropriate Subject line. 3. Learn the art of paraphrasing: Don't just quote and comment on a point-by-point basis. 4. No anonymous posting, please. Don't say something unless you're ready to stand by it. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Date: Fri, 14 Jul 2000 10:02:26 +0100 From: "Tom Zunder" Subject: [RQ-RULES] Vacations, Age, OOP and broken links Holidays Peter, the vacation thing was the coolest spam to a list I've ever seen, it was just so tastefully understated. Perhaps when you next go on vacation you could design some new ones? Almost OOP Stuff Why not try a UK mail order company like www.leisuregames.com, it will cost you the postage but it might well be worth it. Magic World and Age Steve, you were in your thirties when Magic World came out? Gosh, doesn't time fly eh? Does this mean when you were 20 you were into games with the complexity of Power and Perils? Actually North Coast, moving from D&D to RQ to Magic World to D6 to FH just shows that you bounce from the similar type of systems that I have! TalMeta URL Tal, the URL to Steve's RQ rules just don't work for me, can you check it and repost? *************************************************************************** To unsubscribe from this list send mail to majordomo@lists.imagiconline.com with the line 'unsubscribe runequest-rules' as the body of the message. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 14 Jul 2000 16:33:50 +0300 From: mikko.korhonen@myy.helia.fi Subject: [RQ-RULES] Humakti Gift Hi ! Thus as each contestant of the Lottery Sword dies or looses their gifts, the sword looses that gift. But it can make for one hell of a sword for awhile. It has been a while since I delved into Glorantha in detail, but there are some items which freaked me out! Mostali (dwarves) as idiot savants? Dwarves making gun powder? Dwarves as part of the Great Machinery....allusions to factories? What the hell is going on? And the game system used in Hero Wars sucks! Seems to me that Stafford dropped the ball with this edition of Glorantha and the game system. Come back RuneQuest!!!! Any thoughts on these points? All that stuff has been part of Glorantha since the 1980s at least. See Greg's first detailed description of Mostali in DIFFERENT WORLDS. It's just that now the material has been brought together in a nice compact form and you've noticed it. Lots of other people find the machine-minded dwaves fun. Me included though I'd never use one as a PC. >And the >game system used in Hero Wars sucks! Umm, I wouldn't put it that strongly but it does have its flaws, yes. We all on this list would love it if some beneficent deity would allow Chaosium and Avalon Hill/WoTC/Hasbro to sell their rights in the system and let someone else publish it. Even without the Gloranthan material it would still be a viable product. But this is unlikely to happen. So sorry. - -- Michael Cule *************************************************************************** To unsubscribe from this list send mail to majordomo@lists.imagiconline.com with the line 'unsubscribe runequest-rules' as the body of the message. ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 16 Jul 2000 10:58:52 -0700 From: "DCFitch1" Subject: [RQ-RULES] Mostali I guess I just have a hard time with gunpowder technology in a pseudo-classical/bronze age world. Even if it is only fantasy, there should be some logic involved. Other than this Mostali/machinery issue, I think Glornatha is still the most interesting game world invented to date. (I am sure Greg Stafford will breathe a sigh of relief to hear that . . . :) Dan Fitch *************************************************************************** To unsubscribe from this list send mail to majordomo@lists.imagiconline.com with the line 'unsubscribe runequest-rules' as the body of the message. ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 16 Jul 2000 21:42:24 -0400 From: Tal Meta Subject: Re: [RQ-RULES] Glorantha in Hero Wars Michael Cule wrote: > > We all on this list would love it if some beneficent deity would allow > Chaosium and Avalon Hill/WoTC/Hasbro to sell their rights in the system > and let someone else publish it. Actually, I still get a chuckle out of the fact that D&D 3E, or at least the parts I've seen, resemble RQ more than they ever have. If nothing else, I'll be buying the new monster manuals, since they'll be listing all the monster stats (making conversions even more of a snap). - -- talmeta@cybercomm.net - Heretic, Dilettante, & God-Machine ICQ - 12594453 AIM - talmeta Homepage - *************************************************************************** To unsubscribe from this list send mail to majordomo@lists.imagiconline.com with the line 'unsubscribe runequest-rules' as the body of the message. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 17 Jul 2000 10:50:32 +0200 From: Julian Lord Subject: Re: [RQ-RULES] Glorantha in Hero Wars Tal : > Actually, I still get a chuckle out of the fact that D&D 3E, or at least > the parts I've seen, resemble RQ more than they ever have. D&D 3E started out as Peter Adkinson's desire to turn his House Rules into the new edition ; and there are *so* many people who had semi-RQ semi-D&D house rules .... ;-) cheers, Julian Lord *************************************************************************** To unsubscribe from this list send mail to majordomo@lists.imagiconline.com with the line 'unsubscribe runequest-rules' as the body of the message. ------------------------------ End of RuneQuest Rules Digest V3 #67 ************************************ *************************************************************************** To unsubscribe from this list send mail to majordomo@lists.imagiconline.com with the line 'unsubscribe runequest-rules' as the body of the message.
