That could be misleading. If Whitewall was assualted by a Shargashi demon that devoured everything it killed, then only twenty three corpses is an indication of a terrible disaster.

Outside the Glowline, most Moonboats won't be able to do any fancy manuveurs. A few Arrolian pilots could but it will take time for them to make their way to Whitewall.

Wind Children at Night. There's also a magical road in Sartar that could be used. The Flying Land mentioned in Elder Secrets could be used.
