Why not?
The Orlanthi and the Lunars find (during the siege) a common link of their mythologies when they celebrate some solemn, traditional, long forgotten exceptional rite of funeral with the dead on a sacred chariot brought to hell/heaven by daimones.

I *feel* it is necessary (like in Iliad) to show some similiarities between defenders and assailants in those extreme circumstances and maybe funerary chariots are vehicle to this concept better than any obscure explanation.

It's very cinematic and rethoric, so it should fit....
