Ah, yes. This reminds me of a (non-Gloranthan) adventure I ran once. The PCs didn't have to kill a dragon: they arrived just after a much higher-level group of adventuring NPCs had done the job, chopped off the head, and retreated to have songs written about them.
What the PCs had to do, to regain the respect of the locals for adventurers in general, was dispose of the body. The huge, stinking, slowly-bio-degradable body, that was lying all over a village. So simple, such fun to play. (They chucked lots of it down a nearby mineshaft, FWIW. And then went hunting for a tanner who could work dragonskin.)
The Bat is a KILOMETRE long, with wing-span to match. We now know how to keep the trolls fed for a bit. But what other effects on the local ecology will an oilXXXchaos spillage of this size have?
