The scary bit is that the name arose over their habit of hanging their buttocks over the side of the moonboat to show their utter contempt and fearlessness. Since the baboons had dyed them bright crimson this created the illusion of balloons. (Compared to the relatively dull coloured moonboat of course. This act of loyalty to the goddess has strained even the Lunar's normally high level of tolerance and acceptance.). There's only 50 baboons so there should be 100 "balloons". Unfortunately the baboon now known as "Cheeky" was a little slow in pulling his in when their moonboat was under heavy ballista fire.
