Might it be possible to grow some food on top of Whitewall?

I visited Volterra in Tuscany this summer, and they were able to resist lengthy sieges (1-2 years IIRC) by growing a good deal of food within their walls; including grass to feed herds. Volterra is somewhat reminiscent of Whitewall... very high with steep approaches.

I'm not an expert on the Volsaxi but I would imagine they would want their fortress to be capable of supporting their herds for a fair period of time.
