Well, speaking as the son of a female doctor, they *can* be (or pretend to be) heartless - one threat my mom (a pediatrician) used to give her patients was "you [do this thing] or I'll forget you're not my kid".

Again, speaking from experience, scorpions have no trouble with sheer surfaces - like pretty fine drywall inside a house. I'd certainly grant them the power to "Climb Verticle Surfaces" as part of their species keyword :-).
