This is just after Tatius takes over, and the "tone" of the siege starts to change. Donald's character Pharon turns up, and he knows, as the title suggests, that this is war, not cattle raids. The Bat-blat has happened, the period when Broyan was out of it and there was a lot of political in-fighting is only just over.

This is one of those where Donald wrote the challenge (and the first draft of the first scene), I wrote the answer, and he helped me kick it into shape. John made some editorial suggestions, too, that made it a much better story.
