        The problem is that while we know that Gloranthan dragons are terrifying, and the punchline to the whole EWF saga is the Dragonkill, in most of the myths that we know of that would have been known to the EWF the dragons tend to be on the losing end - Vadrus kills a dragon, Orlanth kills Aroka, Orlanth kills Burburstus, Orlanth kill sea dragons on the LBQ. The EWF seem amply provided with myths in which dragons lose badly, but they don't seem to have many in which dragons engage in combat and win. Yet win they generally did, at least enough to build an empire.
