No, they weren't. The giants may have fought for the birth canal but the nomadic motivation for the assault on Robcradle was outrage against the invaders allying against them and seizing so much grazing land.
When Thog marches against Pavis, he is marching with trolls and the nomads appear to Pavis's side because they are fearful of the trolls. This is despite Pavis City have plundered the cradles.
