Just a quick note:
The Norse giants are like people, but bigger and stupider. The dwarves are like people, but smaller and smarter. The gods are, well, gods (and a bit too complex to explain here) and superior to humans in every way.
(And the Alfar [elves] are a form of ancestor/nature spirit).
