Oh, absolutely. Also, the death rates in the Chinese provinces it hit seem higher as well.

There have been some good suggestions. I think I really like the idea of a hit like this at the end of the age of empires. I think I may hit the world with a plague like this in my Third Age. Cast it as a return of one of the Darkness age plagues.
