IMG there are several distinct ship-buiding traditions in the East Isles:

The Sendereven tradition, with sailing catamarans. Only the Sendereven themselves know how to build/grow stone hulls, other peoples make inferior versions with wooden hulls.

The Tamanjary tradition, with a "skeleton" of wood or bone clad with shark or whale skin.

The Mokato tradition, which is based on the flying ships of previous world cycles. When the sky ships stopped working, Hobimarong showed the Mokatans how to use the wings as sails. The Haragalan tallships stem from the Mokato tradition.
