Not if you use the special duck marsh chariots! They have extra wide wheels made of wicker. They look like the wheel of a watermill or a paddlewheel steamer and the encosed body of the chariot is made of wicker with a waterproof cover. This allows them to work reasonably well on the water and on soft marshy ground. They're pulled by the elusive and rare waterwalker lizards. (Like the real world green basilisk http://animals.nationalgeographic.com/animals/reptiles/green- -lizard.html). For short dashes the chariots can move along the top of the water.

It's the surprise factor (no one expects a chariot charge in a swamp) and the fact that most people fall over laughing when they see one that makes them so "successful" in battle.
