Hi Matthew,

We have a Rigsdali devotee in our Lunar Provinces HQ game right now. The player is new to HQ and new to Glorantha and we worked out that Rigsdal would be ideal because he:

(a) wanted a warrior
(b) wanted someone with awareness skills or powers
(c) I wanted someone that wasn't an aspect of Orlanth (most of the
other characters are Lunars or Lunar-sympathisers)

I thought that Rigsdal would be great since he has cultural connections to other areas where he is not just a nightwatchman. It turns out that someone had travelled through time into the future to steal my idea and write it up as part of the Hoar Herons in CotRM!

Our Rigsdali is serious and practical; a counterpoint to an enthusiastic Darjinni Natha-convert. He takes his responsibility to look after the group when they are incapable (asleep, doing rituals, etc) very seriously and his "earnest and honest simplicity" have helped his more sophisticated townie Lunar chums out of some jams with other Orlanthi and former-Orlanthi-types.

The character's initial motivation to leave his home was that he felt he was underutilised; that he could help his people by learning more about the Empire and Lunar ways. His goals are changing as he has started to meet people who can explain (in some way...) why he felt unfulfilled as a watch-stander. (Alternatively: Celestial seductresses are filling is head with lies!)

I hope that's of some use; I realise it's not an especially startling idea but - as I said - my player was new to system and setting and a lot of the abstruse lore probably would have turned him off. As it is, I think he is on his way to conversion!

Cheers,
