Very bad puns have been a feature, not a Gorakiki cultist, since Ducks, Ducks and, More Ducks. If not earlier. Chris is perpetrating (or perpetuating?)traditional behaviour.

As for the question about where in Glorantha all that confusing feudal system on steriods best fits, I'd say that a lot of it could be squeezed into a lot of unlikely places. Overlapping ownership,complicated rivalries and allegiances, traditions and wotnot, could fit into a primitive tribe of hunter gatherers and the local nature spirits, for example. The West looks obvious for the feel of the system described, but if you like those features then I'd suggest that anywhere with a long enough continuous history could easily be justified. I think the complication and confusion are built up over time as new layers of authority are added to existing ones without entirely replacing them.
