I think the driving test is a better analogy (taking the whole fail/retake cycle together, not one particular test). There are people who never pass their test, but there aren't very many of them, and the number that actually crash or even just damage their car while doing the test, while presumably not zero, is lower still. Yet this does not mean that, for most people, going through the driving test is a doddle.
