Being a little slow, I hadn'r considered comments on the Blog - I just dumped the address into Google Reader and let it worry about when the Blog is updated. That's fine for new posts, but it doesn't help for comments - I don't care who is pre-ordering books for tentacles, but some of the other comments and follow ups may be useful - but the only way to find out is to physically visit the log, and then check each post to see if there are any new comments since last time you looked. What's wrong with the mailing list - good,solid "Push" technology that ensures you never miss an update?
I was going to leave this as a comment on the Blog and discovered another limitation. You can only leave comments if you are a Livejournal subscriber. Isn't this rather limiting? Especially if you want people to use this route to pre-order books.
