There is an interesting Fairytale generator available at Brown University.

It takes the generic actions and agents of European fairytales and, by matching some sample texts associated with the agent or action you want included in the story, generates a fairytale.

If you have trouble coming up with legends and myths for your Heroquest games you might want to use this as a spur to creativity.

It is only a "spur" as the resulting narratives are somewhat fractured. But a little editing, insertion of beings from religions or myths operating in your setting, and you will have a useful narrative.
