I like the description of Arkat as Nysalor's shadow. If they were both born during the Sunstop, that helps explain why they did not appear at the same place. At noon, you don't have a shadow. (Well, OK, you do, but mythically, you don't.) So, Nysalor's shadow had to flee and spend a long time coming back to him.
