But he could and did at one time, which was the source of his heat and fire powers. Since he was trapped within the earth, he lost access to the more heavenly powers, such as light. The exact opposite of Yelmalio, of course.

Can you plaease point me to some relevant passages? It's a very big work and written from a point of view I have trouble identifying with.

Agreed; but since understanding Glorantha is so integral to running a game set in it, these issues are relevant to the game.
