For a rough idea of how this "3,000" mile scale works, here is a file you can view in Google Earth so you can compare sizes.

Note, mapping a square onto a globe produces less than idea results. While Valind's Glacier does end up in the Alaskan latitudes, the width of northern Genertela gets compressed. To use overlays of the lozenge on a globe, a half-scale would reduce the longitude distortions greatly. But that's a project for a later day...
