> When you become chief of the clan, you become a priest of Orlanth Dar at the same time - even if previously your connection to Orlanth's leadership magic was pretty minimal. Only a very very few clans do it differently (and of that very very small number, most will be headed by an Ernalda priestess).

Of course, outside of Sartar, other rules often apply among the Orlanthi. More than a few Wenelian clans derive their chieftainship rituals from Heler (among others). The Aeteli and many of the coastal clans are heavily influenced by their Helering ancestry.
Ah, here we are - Urunda Helersdotir (Cloud, Chief Rain) When Brave Heler left the stead to follow her lord, her daughter was left in charge of her lands, husbands, and herds. There are other paths to being chief in that land, but none lead reliably to kingship. The lack of reliable kingship magic is one of the real problems in the region. Warlord magic just doesn't provide for a stable legacy.
