I can certainly vouch for using the Dying Earth taglines idea for your Glorantha games. I used them instead of Hero points. You had to have some reason to say the thing and it wasn't limited to mythic things but they gave you a bump up. It was fun, amusing, gives interesting insight into the character (as the player has to think about it in advance), and can be used as a Narrator tool by awarding directed "tags" that give "clues" to game events.
