I've bought and read Jim Chapin's stories, now published in a nice book. Most had been published already in Tradetalk, but there is one which I had never heard of : The discovery of the White Moon by the Outer Atomic Explorers.

In this story, beautifully written as all stories by the late, lamented James Chapin, we see a group of godlearners in their weird ship sail the seas of chaos (yes, they went OUTSIDE of Glorantha, into the Void, to find new worlds) and emerge back at the end of the third age... to see the Red Moon die.

The interesting thing is that the dragons had little to do with it. Looks like Argrath had little to do with it (all the Argrath). No, the White Moon did it, rocketing from the past and colliding HARD with the red moon, who was shattered to bits. There is a graphic description of its fragment crashing down on Dara Happa and destroying most of its civilization.

What I had not realized is how devastating the death of the red moon will be. She will not go down smoothly. It will lay waste to most of the Glorantha. Interestingly, I read an old post on the Glorantha digest the other day, written by a rokari watcher who was explaining what happened after the rokari church worked a huge ritual to banish / exorcise the red moon. It worked, and also destroyed half of Shesnela - again.

The end is nigh.
