There's already a real-world divide between PAR-vis and PAY-vis, I'm in the former camp, which I think is the usual British pronunciation, I think Greg and most USians say the latter. Some may use a shorter 'A' sound without the 'AR' or 'AY' to lengthen it. I think it would be "pæv.ɪs" in IPA, if those characters survive the email process. A bit like the pronunciation of "vapid", which I think has a fairly consistent pronunciation.
