What Herve says about wizardry is absolutely spot on:

> Wizardry / Sorcery is Magics practised by the Logicians. It is "something you know" (and must learn) as opposed to "something you are" (divine magics) and "something you have" (connections with spirits).
>
> It is Logical application of the Laws governing the universe and revealed by great men like Malkion, Zzabur (especially him) and others. It does not need faith to be used, just knowledge.

Let me emphasize this - wizardry does not need faith or virtue or whatever, just knowledge and the requirements of the specific spell (which may impose specific taboos or requirements).

> This knowledge is restricted, through the Caste system, to specialist magic-users : the zzaburi caste. The others can know a few spells to help their appointed tasks, but only the Zzaburi really study the pure Laws of the Logical Universe.

That is the view of much of traditional Malkionism (although what is meant by caste and even zzaburi is a subject of much debate). However, it is worth mentioning that the New Hrestoli of Loskalm *completely reject caste*. Period. Socially they are divided between the Elders (those who grew up under the Ban) and the Children of Tribulation (those who have come to age since Dormal ended the Reprimand) and also between the Qualified and the Followers, but that's a social division and not an inherent division.

It is worth emphasizing that the New Hrestoli of Loskalm are radical idealists as committed and extreme in their idealistic vision as are the unaging Brithini. And possibly more similar than you might believe....
