Western sorcerers, of the same background as the modern Malkioni. They were just one of many outside threats. Tracking down all of them while trying to get an idea of the basics will confuse you.

Start with the basics - Orlanthi rebelling against the Evil Emperor (Yelm and Dara Happa), Orlanthi ruling their part of the world during a long period of wars, Orlanthi fighting a retreating action against Chaos until Chaos almost rules, but simultaneous heroic actions in the Underworld (the Lightbringers) and the mortal world (I Fought We Won) turn the tide and bring about the change into modern Glorantha.

Everything else are refinements to use when you're into this Orlanthi thing, but the basics still remain the frame.

It gets different when you leave the Orlanthi frame, but if you plan to use the Sartar Book to learn about Glorantha, you should at least remain near the main tracks.
