Meanwhile the other characters had found the unconcious 'newt and decided to disarm it and bind it's arms just in case...

They decided to set up camp as they couldn't take them with them, or, sensibly leave them both helpless.

The 'newt regained consciousness as the Thane went to take it some water and check on it's condition. It was, understandably confused to find itself disarmed and bound, but to everyone's surprise*, the Elmali immediately freed it, returned it's weapons and apologised. The fact that they had obviously tried to help the demi-bird convinced it that they were honest. The 'newt decided that a crippled demi-bird was of no use to it, and would hinder it's mission, so it slew it, and made to leave. The Elmali insisted it took a waterskin, and the Orlanthi poet made some comment about eating the demi-bird. The 'newt considered that anyone thinking that they might make good eating was obviously a little strange, and in order to return something for the water said he was more than welcome to try...
