Chaosium Digest Volume 21, Number 7 Date: Monday, September 1, 1997 Number: 3 of 3 Outlined Mythos Decks: Penguin-Hunting in the Middle East (Cedric Chin) MYTHOS Serpent People and their Penguins (Cedric Chin) MYTHOS The Sorcerer's Apprentice Deck (Cedric Chin) MYTHOS Summon Great Cthulhu Deck (Cedric Chin) MYTHOS The Vermont Deck (Cedric Chin) MYTHOS -------------------- From: cchin@frk.com (Chin, Cedric) Subject: Penguin-Hunting in the Middle East System: Mythos Deck Name: Penguin-Hunting in the Middle East Introduction: Like any Middle East deck, this deck is broken, but the Great Menagerie Monsters also make it fun to play. The Great Menagerie requires an Explorer, so is limited to the Dreamlands (The Hunter, Any Country), Arkham (Alan Shrewsbury), and the Middle East (TE Lawrence, Any Country). The Middle East is quirkingly suitable for this Adventure, since the Middle East's Brotherhood of the Black Pharaoh Adventure requires 7 points of Sanity-costing Tomes or Artifacts, and the Kitab Al-Azif's Sanity cost is 4. The Kitab allows you to play Monsters, required for the Great Menagerie, as Corrupt Allies. You can then sacrifice them with Call Power of Nyambe (yellow sign icon spell, sacrifice you Allies and gain Sanity equal to their value) and / or apply them as the Corrupt Ally requirement for Seeking Everlasting Life I. You won't need all the Adventures (and their cards) in this deck, so trim it down to whatever size you're interested in. Sets: Limited Edition, Dreamlands. Summary: Tricky broken deck. Limited Edition / Dreamlands. Artifact / Tome deck. Middle East Munchkin cards: - Middle East deck: A single Sub-Region City deck plays quickly. The Middle East Adventures The Sun Worshippers and Brotherhood of the Black Pharoah are easy, if not broken, Adventures. - Seeking Everlasting Life I: Almost all the other Adventures in this deck satisfy the requirements for this Adventure. - Chime of Tezchaptl: This Artifact cost 2 Sanity, so applies to the Brotherhood of the Black Pharoah. Adventures: * The Curious Parcel (+6) * The Sun Worshippers (+10) * The Great Menagerie (+6) * The Brotherhood of the Black Pharoah (+9) * Seeking Everlasting Life I (+5) Cards for The Curious Parcel: - Tome in a language other than English: [Any two such Tomes. See the Brotherhood of the Black Pharoah.] - One spell: Any spells used for the Tomes in this deck, including the Resurrection spell for Seeking Everlasting Life I - One Library: Al-Azhar University, Cario (x2) - One Cemetary: Tomb of Prophet Daniel, Alexandria. Valley of the Kings, Luxor. - One Gate Location: Any such Location - Two Allies that are Scholars or Professors: Kalill Kareem, Cairo (x2). Ibrahim Amin, Cairo. William Channing Webb Professor, Any City. Cards for The Sun Worshipper: - Two Camels: Camel, Event, Travel by Land (x4) - Three different Middle East Locations: [Any six such Locations, including those in The Curious Parcel.] - Two Allies who speak Arabic: [Any four such Allies, including those in The Curious Parcel and Seeking Everlasting Life I.] - Drought: Drought, Event (x2) - Direct Sunlight: Direct Sunlight, Event, Day (x2) - Great Temple of Karnak: Great Temple of Karnak, Luxor (x2 or more) - Fire Vampire: Fire Vampire, Monster, Lesser Servitor (x2) Comments: Brackets indicate a card used in another Adventure for this deck. If possible, use a Camel to arrive at The Great Temple of Karnak. The Great Temple is known as "the" card necessary for The Sun Worshipper Adventure, so if you are Walking to it, expect anti-Location Events to be played against you. Also, expect the Sphere of Nath (discard your current Location) to be played against it, so more than two copies of the card are recommended. Cards for Brotherhood of the Black Pharoah: - An Ally who speaks Arabic: [Any four such Allies] - Artifacts or Tomes that total 7 Sanity: 14 Sanity of such cards, including a Tome with the Skull icon for Seeking Everlasting Life I. - Six different Locations in the Middle East: [Any twelve such Locations. See the Curious Parcel] Recommended cards: - Kitab-Al Azif, Tome, Octopus, Skull, Question, and Eye icon: This Tome costs four Sanity, so works well with this Adventure. In addition, the Fire Vampires from The Sun Worshippers can be played as Corrupt Allies, which are needed for Seeking Everlasting Life I. This Tome is in Arabic, but this isn't a problem, since all your Middle East Allies speak Arabic. - Any Weapon that can make an Ally Corrupt: A Corrupt Ally is required for Seeking Everlasting Life I. Some of these such Weapons cost one Sanity, so also can be used for the Sanity-costing Artifacts or Tomes requirement. - Cloud Memory, Spell, Octopus icon: This Spell allows you to bury all Phobias affecting your Investigator. Comments: Brackets indicate a card used in another Adventure for this deck. Tomes which have high Sanity costs are typically non-English. My own deck uses a Latin Investigator, with the Liber Ivonis, Latin Necronomicon, and De Vermiis Mysteriis for 7 Sanity cost. These Tomes also overlap in their spell icons, and include the Skull icon, which is necessary in Seeking Everlasting Life I. Cards for Seeking Everlasting Life I: - Two Steadfast Allies: [Any such Allies used for The Curious Parcel] - Corrupt Ally: [Faraz Najir] - Tome with the Skull icon: [Any two such Tomes] - Resurrection: Resurrection, Spell, Skull icon Comments: Brackets indicate a card used in another Adventure for this deck. The Middle East has only one Corrupt Ally, but with the Kitab Al-Azif, you can play Monsters as Allies, and the Allies they become are Corrupt. In addition, many Weapons make Allies Corrupt, and some cost a Sanity point, so qualify as a Sanity-costing Artifact needed for The Brotherhood of the Black Pharoah. Cards for The Great Menagerie: - Adventurer: TE Lawrence, Any Country (x2) - Four Monsters of different subtypes: [Fire Vampire, Monster, Lesser Servitor (x2).] Giant Albino Penguins, Monster, Lesser Independent (x2). Ghatanathoa, Monster, Great Old One, requires Outside Country Gate and Drought. Any other Monsters. Other Cards: - Call Power of Nyambe, Spell, yellow sign icon: This Spell allows you to sacrifice your Allies and gain their point value in Sanity. Use this Spell to sacrifice your Monster Allies before you score The Great Menagerie. - Create Gate, Spell, Eye icon: This Spell allows you to play a Monster to your Threat. Comments: Brackets indicate a card used in another Adventure for this deck. Play your Monster Allies with the Kitab Al-Azif, bury them with Call Power. -------------------- From: cchin@frk.com (Cedric Chin) Subject: Serpent People and their Penguins System: Mythos Deck Name: The Serpent People (and Their Penguins) Have Invaded New York!!! Introduction: This is the prequel deck to The Serpent People Are Everywhere!!! deck (see V20.11). Replacing Come Sail Away with The Expedition makes the deck quite different. There's no dimension hopping, but if you have Giant Albino Penguins or Men of Leng, you can use them to Join with the Serpent People. Interestingly, Two Cities and A Tale and The Theron Marks Society overlap, even though the Theron Marks Society uses no New York Locations. (Serpent People Join with Weapons and Serpent People. Thus, you may play a Weapon when you use the Gate to add a Serpent People to your Threat, though only at a Location where you may play a Weapon--which is a Location where you may play an Artifact.) Sets: MSGS, Limited Edition, Dreamlands. You will need a second MSGS set. Summary: Serpent People with Weapons deck. Artifact / Tome deck. New York, Kingsport, Arkham. Munchkin cards: Chant of Thoth, Unexpected Calamity. Chant of Thoth cycles through sub-region cards that become unnecessary after certain Adventures are played. Unexpected Calamity is a required card for The Expedition, an Adventure in this deck. Investigator: Any Adventures: Two Cities and a Tale Theron Marks Society The Expedition Cards for Two Cities and a Tale: - Kingsport Location: The Strange High House in the Mist, Kingsport (x2) Train: Train, Event, Travel by Land (x2) - New York Location: Any New York Location, including Red Hook (x2) - Mrs. Sonia Lovecraft: Mrs. Sonia Lovecraft, New York (x2) - Author: HP Lovecraft, New York. Frank Belknaft Long, New York. - Monster: Serpent People (x4) Other Cards: - Harry Houdini will be useful for later Adventures Cards for Theron Marks Society: - Monster: Serpent People (x4) - Phobia: Any two Phobias, Events - Tome: At least two Diamond Tomes - Spell: Chant of Thoth, Diamond icon. Dust of Suleiman, Diamond icon - Country House: [The Strange High House in the Mist, Kingsport (x2)] - Two Steadfast Allies: [Four or more Allies from Two Cities and a Tale] - Weapon: Two or more Weapons, Artifacts Comments: Brackets indicate a card used in another Adventure for this deck. The Dust of Suleiman summons a Serpent People, so you can apply it toward an Adventure this Round, instead of waiting for it next Round by placing it in a Threat. Harry Houdini from Two Cities and a Tale becomes more difficult to kill with Weapons. Also, if you use a "weak" Phobia in your deck, your opponents may not bother to bury it, so you can play it during another Adventure, and it will stay in play when you play Theron Marks. Cards for The Expedition: - Miskatonic University Location: Any two such Locations - Two Allies: [Any four such Allies from Two Cities and a Tale] - Travel by Sea: Tramp Steamer, Event (x2) - Storm: Any such Storms, Event (x2) - Unexpected Calamity: Unexpected Calamity, Event (x2) - Amnesia: Amnesia, Event (x2) - Site: Red Hook, New York (x2). Or Hangman's Hill, Arkham. See Comments. - Tome: [Any two Diamond icon Tomes] - Three Monsters: [Serpent People (x4)]. Man Of Leng (x2) or Giant Albino Penguins (x2) Recommended Cards: - 197 E. Pickman, Arkham: This reusable Gate allows you to play additional Monsters. Since it has the Artifact Attribute, you can play Serpent People with Weapons here. Comments: Brackets indicate cards used in other Adventures in the deck. The Orne Library is suggested, since it's the only Miskatonic University Location with the Tome Attribute. The Tramp Steamer is the only Travel by Sea Event that allows you to return to the same Region you left from. You can use it to return to a Sanitarium (the alternative is to Walk to a Sanitarium, thus giving your opponents an opportunity to play an anti-Location card against you). The Men of Leng join with Lesser Independents (eg. Serpent People), while Giant Albino Penguins Join with Any Monster. Red Hook has a slight advantage over Hangman's Hill in that Red Hook has both the Gate and Artifact Attributes, allowing Serpent Men with a Weapon to be played at the Gate. -------------------- From: cchin@frk.com (Cedric Chin) Subject: The Sorcerer's Apprentice Deck System: Mythos Deck Name: The Sorcerer's Apprentice Deck Introduction: This deck centers around The Sorcerer's Apprentice. This deck includes The Great Menagerie, which requires Monsters of different subtypes, and Nyarlathotep, an optional card, makes a special appearance. The deck pretty much takes place in The Sorcerer's Apprentice's Country Locations of The West and The Underground. Certain Limited Edition Spells (Angles of Tagh-Clatur and Create Gate) and their Tomes are important cards for this deck; otherwise, the cards in this deck are predominantly Dreamlands. The Sorcerer's Apprentice requires Nightgaunts, so Nightgaunts are used as travel. Try not to play this deck starting in the Underground, or you may be stuck for several turns! Sets: Dreamlands. Limited Edition provides highly recommended cards. Summary: The West / The Underground deck. Artifact / Tome deck. Munchkin Cards: - Discover Secret Cache. This Event allows you to find a Tome or Artifact lacking the appropriate Attribute. Investigator: Any Adventures: * The Sorcerer's Apprentice * Four-Armed is Forewarned * The Great Menagerie Cards for The Sorcerer's Apprentice: - Tome and Spell: See Other Cards - The Enchanted Woods: The Enchanted Woods, Oukranos Wilds, The West (x2) - Elephant Caravan: Elephant Caravan, Event, Travel by Land (x2) - Nightgaunts: Nightgaunts, Monster, Lesser Servitor (x4) - Peaks of Thok: Peaks of Thok, The Wildlands, The Underground (x2) - Town: Ilarnek, Mnar, The West (x2) - Temple of Loveliness: Temple of Loveliness, Ourkandos Wilds, The West, Unique - Day: See Recommended Cards Other Cards: - Ship of Clouds, Travel by Air, Event (x2): This spell allows you to immediately play a Location in another Region. - Angles of Tagh Clatur, Spell, Eye icon: This spell allows you to summon a Lesser Servitor, such as a Nightgaunt. Recommended Cards: - Howard Lovecraft, Any Dreamland: Flip this Ally as your turn and draw a card. - New Moon, Event, Day (x2): This card satisfies the Day requirement, and can be used to summon Nyarlathotep, a Monster that can be used for The Great Menagerie. - Create Time Warp, Eye icon: This spell allows you to return to a Location buried in your Story Deck (to return to a Region you came from). - Fly, Spell, Diamond icon: This spell allows you to play a non-Exotic Location as if you were Walking. Thus, you may Walk to a Location in another Region. Cards for Four-Armed is Forewarned: - Weapon: Any two Weapons, Artifact - Explorer: Iranon the Explorer, Any Site (x2). See Comments. - Night: Any two Night cards, Event - Two different Underworld Locations: [Peaks of Thok, The Wildlands, The Underground (x2)] Tower of Koth, Gug City, The Underground. City of Gugs, Gug City, The Underground - Gug: Gug, Monster, Lesser Independent (x2) _ Phobia: Any two Phobias, Event Comments: Brackets indicate cards used in other Adventures. Iranon the Explorer can be found only at Sites. Cards for The Great Menagerie: - Adventurer or Explorer: [Iranon the Explorer, Any Site (x2).] The Hunter, Any Country - Three different Outside Locations: [Peaks of Thok, The Wildlands, The Underground (x2). City of Gugs, Gug City, The Underground. Ilarnek, Mnar, The West (x2). The Enchanted Woods, Oukranos Wilds, The West (x2)] You may wish to have three different Outside Locations in each Region. - Four Monsters of different subtypes: [Nightgaunts, Monster, Lesser Servitor (x4). Gug, Monster, Lesser Independent (x2).] Nyalathotep, GOO, requires New Moon and Outside Gate Location. Monsters of other subtypes. - A City Location: [Tower of Koth, Gug City, The Underground. City of Gugs, Gug City, The Underground] You may wish to have a City Location in each Region. Recommended Cards: - Ruins of Sarnath, Mnar, The West: This card qualifies as an Outside Location, and has the Gate, Artifact, and Tome Attributes. - Temple of the Elder Ones, Ulthar, The West: This Temple (the Dreamlands equivalent of a Sanitarium) qualifies as a City Location. -------------------- From: cchin@frk.com (Cedric Chin) Subject: Summon Great Cthulhu Deck System: Mythos Deck Name: Summon Great Cthulhu Deck Introduction: Summon Great Cthulhu is a tricky Adventure to play. Not only must you play R'lyeh and bring out Cthulhu, you must keep Cthulhu in play to score Summon Great Cthulhu. (R'lyeh is difficult to play because it is a Unique card, requires all three fragments of the Disk of R'Lyeh (each Unique) in play, and can only be reached by Travel by Sea. Cthulhu is a GOO that requires an Island and Waxing Moon in play.) Still, you just have to summon Cthulhu, don't you? (Note: Per the errata, Summon Great Cthulhu is +13 points, not +7.) Sets: Limited Edition Summary: Summon Great Cthulhu deck. Tricky. Artifact / Tome. Boston. Investigator: Any non-English speaking Investigator, such as the Inquisitive Chinese Intellectual. The Secrets of the Silver Twilight requires you to play a Tome in a Language your Investigator does not speak. Since most Allies speak English, the easiest such Tome to play is one in English. The R'Lyeh Text, a Chinese Tome, fits the theme of this deck (and has some minor play value), so the Inquisitive Chinese Intellectual, who speaks Chinese but not English, can be used in this deck. Here's a Stupid Combo you can use for this deck: - Play the three pieces of the R'Lyeh disk. - Attack someone with a Star Spawn. The Spawn cost 2 Sanity to play, and has a base value of 5. Per its Special Effect box, add one point for each piece of the R'lyeh disk in play. That's 8 points of damage for 2 Sanity. - Play a Corrupt Cultist. - De-Evolve the Corrupt Cultist into a Star Spawn for 1 Sanity. De-Evolution is a yellow sign spell that allows you to bury a Corrupt Ally in the deck and replace him with a Monster, who functions as an Ally. - Give the Star Spawn a Shotgun (+2 value, gain 1 Sanity) or some other annoying weapon. - Cast Become Spectral Hunter on the Star Spawn for 2 Sanity. Become Spectral Hunter effectively turns an Ally into Monster. If you gave the Star Spawn an Enchanted Weapon, say a Mist Projector (+3 value, lose 1 Sanity), you don't need to use this spell. - Attack someone with the Star Spawn. The Spawn cost 2 Sanity to play, and has a base value of 5. Add one point for each piece of the R'Lyeh disk in play. That's 8 points of damage for 3 Sanity, if you use the spell. 10 points for 2 Sanity if you use the spell with a Shotgun. 11 points of damage for 2 Sanity if you use a Mist Projector. If necessary, cast Resurrection on the Corrupt Cultist for 2 Sanity. Alternately, once you have the Star Spawn out as an Ally, you can use Throth's Stalwart, a Wave icon spell (from Dreamlands). This spell prevents an Ally from being buried if it takes less than its full value in damage, though you have to cast it every turn. It's sure hard to kill off a Shotgun-wielding Star Spawn (7 points; ignore the Special Effects box when a Monster becomes an Ally and vice-versa). Munchkin Cards: - Yithian Mental Contact, Event: Yithian Mental Contact cancels a card just played. The Summon Great Cthulhu Adventure cannot be played if Cthulhu is not in play. Thus, if someone buries Cthulhu before you can play this Adventure, you can use Yithian Mental Contact to return Cthulhu back to play. - Chime of Tezchaptl, Artifact: This Artifact cancels any spell just played. Specifically, you can use it to cancel a spell that buries Cthulhu. - Seeking Everlasting Life I, Adventure: This Adventure doesn't score any necessary points, but can at least can return Cthulhu and the Shining Trapezohedron to your deck if both of them are buried. Its Resurrection is part of a Stupid Combo you can use in this deck. Adventures: * Summon Great Cthulhu (+13) * Secrets of the Silver Twilight (+8) * Seeking Everlasting Life I (+5) Cards for Summon Great Cthulhu: - Be a member of a Secret Society: Secrets of the Silver Twilight, Adventure (x2) - Three pieces of the R'lyeh Disk: R'lyeh Disk, Right Fragment, Artifact, Unique. R'lyeh Disk, Left Fragment, Artifact, Unique. R'lyeh Disk, Top Fragment, Artifact, Unique. - Travel: Tramp Steamer, Event, Travel by Sea (x2). - R'lyeh: R'lyeh, Exotic Location, Unique. Requires all three pieces of the R'lyeh Disk in play, and can only be reached via Travel by Sea. - Waxing Moon: Waxing Moon, Event, Night (x2) - Cthulhu: Cthulhu, Monster, GOO (x2). Requires Waxing Moon and Island to play. - You must play this Adventure while Cthulhu is in play Other Cards: - Shining Trapezohedron, Artifact, Unique: This Artifact satisfies a requirement to play a GOO, so makes playing of Cthulhu easier. - Seal of Isis, Artifact: This Artifact prevents loss of Tomes and Artifacts. Use it to protect the Disks and Trapezohedron. Recommended Cards: - R'lyeh Text, Tome, Octopus, Wave, and Skull icon, Chinese: This Tome can serve as any of the pieces of the R'lyeh Disk to play R'lyeh, and fits the theme as much as anything else. - Voola Ritual, Spell, Octopus icon: This spell summons a Greater Servitor, specifically a Star Spawn of Cthulhu, for the Secrets of the Silver Twilight. - Cloud Memory, Spell, Octopus icon: This spell buries all Phobias affecting your Investigator. - Thirty-Five Abominable Adulatations of the Bloated One, Spell, yellow sign icon: This spell keeps a GOO in play an additional Round. Since Cthulhu must be in play when you play Summon Great Cthulhu, this spell may come in handy. Comments: In my deck, I also have the Greek Edition of the Necronomicon. This Tome has both the Octopus and yellow sign icon, so can hold the recommended spells. This Tome also lets you draw an additional card each Round. Although the Chinese Investigator cannot speak Greek, some Allies in this deck (John Scott, Carl Stanford) do. The Brazen Head also allows you to play a Greek; the Brazen Head speaks Chinese, Greek, and Latin, and can hold a Spell. Cards for Secrets of the Silver Twilight: - Tome in a language your Investigator does not speak: Any two English Tomes - Two Spells: Any two Spells. See Recommended Cards for Summon Great Cthulhu. - Three Allies: Thomas F. Malone, Boston. Any other Allies. John Scott, Boston (x2) and Carl Stanford, Boston, Unique, also qualify. - The Silver Twilight Lodge: The Silver Twilight Lodge, Boston (x2) - John Scott or Carl Stanford: John Scott, Boston (x2). Carl Stanford, Boston, Unique - Any Greater Monster: Any Greater Monster (x2), such as Star Spawn of Cthulhu, Greater Servitor (x2) Recommended Cards: - Voola Ritual, Spell, Octopus icon: This Spell will Summon a Greater Servitor Monster. - Mysteries of Thalarion, Wave icon (from Dreamlands): This Spell will Summon a Greater Independent Monster. (If you use the Voola Ritual, you will not need Mysteries of Thalarion.) Comments: Brackets indicate a card used in another Adventure for this deck. John Scott and Carl Stanford can also be used for the Three Allies requirement. Star Spawn of Cthulhu are suggested since they fit the theme of the deck. Cards for Seeking Everlasting Life I: - Two Steadfast Allies: [At least four of any such Allies] - Corrupt Ally: [At least two of any such Allies] - Tome with the Skull Icon: [R'lyeh Text, Tome, Octopus, Wave, and Skull icon, Chinese] Book of Dyzan, Skull icon. - Resurrection Spell: [Resurrection, Spell, Skull icon (x2)] Comments: Brackets indicate a card used in another Adventure for this deck. -------------------- From: cchin@frk.com (Cedric Chin) Subject: The Vermont Deck System: Mythos Deck Name: The Vermont Deck Introduction: This is the only Vermont Deck I've constructed. Like Miskatonic Valley, Vermont is a Country Sub-Region, and so also becomes a Migo-infested deck. As a result, this deck ends up being an anti-Artifact deck. Vermont does not have enough different Tome and Artifact Locations to support the deck, so some are added from Arkham (see The Birds and the Byahkees). Sets: Limited Edition, MSGS. A second copy of MSGS is useful for a second copy of cards found in Whispers in Darkness. Summary: Limited Edition / MSGS deck. Artifact / Tome deck. Munchkin cards: Discover Secret Cache, Chant of Thoth. Cache is useful because not many Locations feature the Tome Attribute, and some Locations necessary for Adventure in this deck have neither the Tome nor Artifact Attribute. The Chant will allow you to cycle through cards to find the Unique cards for Whispers in Darkness. Investigator: Any Female Ally (see The Birds and the Byahkees) Adventures: * Whispers in Darkness * The Theron-Marks Society * The Birds and the Byakhees Cards for Whispers in Darkness: - Henry W. Akeley: Henry W. Akeley, Vermont (x2) - Tome: Any two Diamond icon Tomes - Speech Machine: Speech Machine, Artifact, Unique - Car: Car, Event, Travel by Land (x2) - Lonely Akeley Farmhouse: Lonely Akeley Farmhouse, Vermont (x2) - N'gah-Kthun: N'gah-Kthun, Monster, Unique - Governmental Cover-Up: Governmental Cover-Up, Event (x2) Cards for The Theron-Marks Society: - Monster: Migo, Lesser Independent (two or more) - Phobia: Any two Phobias - Tome and Spell: Any two Diamond icon Tomes, with Dust of Suleiman and Petrify. See Comments. - Country House: [Lonely Akeley Farmhouse, Vermont (x2)] - Two Steadfast Allies: Anna Tilton, Vermont. Any other three Steadfast Allies, such as Harvey Walters. See Comments. - Weapon: Any two Weapons, preferably Enchanted. See Comments. Comments: Brackets indicate cards used in other Adventure. If a Migo survives to affect your opponent or his Allies, it will bury an opponent's Artfact of your choice. Thus, Dust of Suleiman, which summons Lesser Independents, can be used to summon a Migo. Since your opponent can only defend with Allies, the Migo will bury an Artifact. If you opponent has no Artifacts, you can use the Petrify spell to turn one of his Allies into an Artfact. And if you have N'gah-Kthun in play, you can play Migo as Allies (at Forested Gate Locations), and equip them with Enchanted Weapons. Then attack your opponent during combat, after Monsters have been assigned. Remember that the Lightning Gun will also bury a random Artifact, if the Gun causes Sanity loss to your opponent or his Allies. Vermont doesn't have many Locations and Allies, so you will need to add some from Arkham. Harvey Walters works just fine. His lowering of your Minimum Hand Size allows you to cycle cards a little faster, and he's a Common with a value of two. Arkham is chosen because of the Birds and the Byahkee's Society Location requirement. Cards for The Birds and the Byahkees: - Dawn of a New Day: Dawn of a New Day, Event, Day (x2) - Two different Water Locations: Any such Locations in Vermont and Arkham - An Ally of the Opposite Sex: [Henry W. Akeley, Vermont (x2)] - Two different Forest / Country Locations: [Lonely Akeley Farmhouse, Vermont (x2)] Other Vermont Locations, and such Sanitariums. - Press or Society Location: Arkham Historical Society, Arkham. And/or Golden Eye Society, Arkham. Comments: Vermont doesn't have many Locations and Allies, so you will need to add some from Arkham. --
