...Primitive Spirits?

These are more numerous than the sands of the desert, more common than dust, and more varied than all the smells in the world. Only shamans know how to deal with them, so beware. Many dangerous spirits infest our lands.

...Waha?

This is the hero of the Animal Nomads, who enslave beasts, and of the Morokanth, who enslave people. He can't decide whose side he's on, but he's not on ours.

                       Gods of the Baboons

Grandfather Baboon
He is our ancestor and alpha god. He is a chief son of the Mammal Mother and Father, who are children of Hykim and Mykih. Grandfather Baboon founded our culture, built the Monkey Metropolis, and ruled the Tailed Empire. He had ten thousand females and every female bore him ten thousand children. Shamans can contact him, and learn potent magics. They teach magic to ordinary baboons, and reserve special magics for the alpha males.

In addition to the normal Ancestor Worship spells, Grandfather Baboon teaches the following cult special divine spells. All of them work only on baboons (either giant or normal).

Biting 1 point
touch, temporal, non-stackable, reusable Doubles the target's Bite skill. Does not double the effects of other spells. Also adds 3 AP to the target's head.
Iron Fur 2 points
touch, temporal, non-stackable, reusable Gives 3 AP protection on the target's chest and abdomen. The spell also turns normal hits into misses. Treat critical hits as special hits, and special hits as normal hits.
Four Legs Good 3 points
touch, temporal, non-stackable, reusable Doubles the target's movement rate, adds six to the target's DEX, and provides 3 AP protection on the limbs.
Become God-Baboon 2 points
touch, temporal, non-stackable, reusable Only shamans can sacrifice for this spell. They only cast it on themselves, other shamans, or alpha males. The spell works only when cast on someone under the effects of Biting, Iron Fur, and Four Legs Good. Become God-Baboon turns the target into a semidivine  baboon. All the specialty spells last six hours per stacking of this spell, instead of fifteen minutes.

If the target is an alpha male, his POW and MP rise six points for the duration of the spell. If his MP are less than zero when the spell ends, the target becomes unconscious until his MP regenerate to one.

Speak with Lesser Monkey 2 points
touch, temporal, non-stackable, reusable Enables the target to converse with non-intelligent monkeys. The target can use Orate or Fast Talk to persuade them. The spell does not confer any intelligence on the monkeys.

Anubis* the Horny One
He is named for his splendid attributes. He was the first to teach us to brandish our mighty totems and use the magic paints. We never groom shamans, because they are infested with spirit lice: very dangerous and powerful! Shamans groom Anubis in Baboon Spirit Land, and nobody else does. [The above paragraph is adapted from one written by Nick Brooke.] * Among the Anubis troops. Among the Geladas, he is called Gelada, among the Mandrills, Mandrill, and so on.

Storm Bull
The Gelada troops worship this Praxian deity as a war god. He is an animal and a powerful spirit of Prax, but many humans worship him.

Foundchild
The god of hunters is a human god. The Hamadryas troops worship him anyway, to gain his hunting magics.

Spirit Cults
Many of our shamans have found spirits to follow. These serve many purposes, and when their purpose ends, their worship ends. The Mandrill troops prefer water spirits, such as River Horse, Frog Woman, and Dew Maid. Other popular spirits include Brother Dog, Hyena, and Raven. When the Hungry Ghosts plague us, we must placate them.

Seven Mothers
The main lunar cult has converted some Anubis troops. They have gained great magics, but we fear the price.
