What is this thing about Brithini not being mortal? They can die just as
well as any other humans, they just:
A, Do not age unless they break the Rules, which seems like some kind of
Immortality-like sorcery to me - the Land of Ninja has a variant of the
Immortality sorcery spell which is permanent, but requires the recipient
to observe some taboo or another. "Obey the strict rules of your caste"
seems like a good taboo like me.
B, Can be perfectly killed in combat or by disease, but they just happen
to have very skilled medics around, who knows how to cure even death.
The whole thing is suspiciously similar to the dwarven thing to me.
(The Aldryami behind me quirps up: "Yup! Its all part of the Great Mostali
Conspiracy. They are everywhere! Notice that these guys are not
maintaining the state of the universe as we know it, as all other cultures
are (except the lunars, the godlearners and the gbaji guys). they are
"repairing it" with their rituals. ALL the above disasters was in fact
caused by the Mostali, who manipulaed the foolish humans. It is time to
start the eradication of all the Degenerated Non-Aldryami Humanoids, the
final solution to the Mostali problem! The humans, (apropos the where do
they come from-debate), was created by the nasty Mostalian bioengineers,
erh, I mean tin dwarves, to combat the noble Aldryami, probably by
corrupting Runners or Slorifings by terrible tortures. They are obviously
programmed only to kill and destroy things.")
Applauds the suggestions about Kralorelan Magic given by Sandy and Nick. I would think that only "arts" could produce stronger magics. Now, what about the arts of composing and poetry. A lesser magic would be improvising a song or poem on the spot that gave some slight help. A greater magic (POW spent, etc) would create anew song that could repeated. Sing it, pay MP, make your sing or orate (declamating poetry) and the thing happens. Kralorelan version of "battle magic"? You might need to do something to learn other people's songs and poems, though.......
Now, if i could only get the time to really read that treatise by John Hughes on the flora/fauna of far point and environs.....
