Maize is the grain of Hon-Eel, the Lunar superhero of the Fifth (or Hon-Eel's) Wane. See _Heroes_ Vol. I, No. 6. It is also the dominant grain of Peloria. See _Gods of Glorantha_, Cults Book, page 40. Importing maize to the oases gives the Lunar garrisons a taste of home, propagandizes for the superiority of the Lunar way, and makes converts out of at least some Oasis folk (and their MP are as good as anybody else's).
