A special note to James Polk:
I'm almost finished Palangio's writeup, and I don't have as many bad things to say about Kestinelm as I thought I would -- not that I have anything good to say, mind you. But a Darjiin Usurper popped up during turn 2, on whom I have been lavishing invectives. We hate Darjiin Usurpers.
Back to tBC. Like others I had some difficulties with the mechanics of the game. After tBC I had a discussion with Eric and a very long discussion with Stephen about some of the mechanical problems with the game. I think the Osentalka Phase could have gone OK with a few changes. First, there were way too many cards for the time (80 in 30 minutes in the first turn). Secondly, we bid for slots, but the slots meant nothing. The myths were the important thing. Also, whoever got the last slot in a myth had a huge advantage over the bidders. Thirdly, the cards were poorly designed. The runes were at the top and the worship points at the bottom making it impossible to fan your cards to see what you had. Lastly, the material was given out too close to the start of the game. People just didn't have enough time to get the hang of the game.

In the last turn I completely abandoned the board. I was told later I lost a lot of troops to a bunch of gorps. I had a lot more fun bullying Kestinelm and contributing Shargash Unchained to Osentalka. Some sort of a board was necessary, I suppose, for intra-Council fighting, but the chaos incursions could have been left out. I think both Kwaratch and myself were perfectly happy to have Iron Diamond Voice as the Warlord so HE would have to move all those armies around.

Actually, I wasn't done in by the bloodthirsty Digijelm. I was dead, all right, but it was my own fault. I had just released Shargash and wanted to try devouring the Scarlet Bat that was threatening Dara Happa. Oh, well. Some days you eat the bat and some days the bat eats you.
