Your chance to increase your POW on your cults one holy day ( or week for some cults) can be based on your already existing power. The higher the power, the less chance of it being increased. A possible alternate if you want/need to consider it could be "training" for power, say based on time (lots and lots of it) spent in worship.

Unless you joined the cult of Chalana Arroy... :)

BTW, Nick, on your earlier reply to my question on the Cult of the years Sons. This led me - eventually - to reread the RuneQuest-Con Compendium and I found it appropriately enough under Nick Brooke's Cultural exchange. Unfortunately the first time around, my inference engine wasn't working... Nevertheless, I still have gaping holes in my knowledge of Gloranthan ephemera...

Which leads me to my next question. :)

It was stated that some Chalana Arroy temples permit use of armour and killing of slept chaos beasties. I understand that each temple is pretty much independent, but would the imposing / lifting of certain restrictions, such as armour etc be more orientated to culture and/or circumstances rather than just each individual temple.

In earlier digest postings (62-65) mention was made that Chalana Arroy was a Godlearner constructed cult, and I wondered whether this could have had an effect on how strong/lax the restrictions were in different geographical locations and cultures.

Also, David Dunham espoused in TotRM 6 that Chalana Arroy conduct differed by pantheon. The cult characteristics viewed most favourably in the Storm Pantheon were Forgiving, Generous, Merciful, Modest and Trusting, whilst in the Sun pantheon these were Forgiving, Generous, Merciful, Chaste, and Trusting. RoC also mentions that in Pamaltela there is a restriction on clothing for Chalana Arroy, but not on leggings.

So, would a group of temples in Esrolia (for instance) be more likely to have more uniformity than say one temple in Dara Happan and another in Prax?

In respect to suicide, IMHO the Chalana Arroy couldn't perform the act themselves, similar to not be able to perform a mercy killing on others. In dire circumstances, I suspect they could ask another (similar to mercy killing) to perform the euthenasia while absolving them from the acts normal repercussions. However, I think the Chalana Arroy would attempt to perservere to await a rescue attempt (the Gloranthan damsel in distress).

I thank all the people who replied to earlier my questions on Chalana Arroys.
