Mielies, miniminicon

G'Day all,

I would like to add to the various posts about maize (or meilies as they are called in SA) that it is quite possible to survive well on a primarily maize diet - the question is rather, why would anyone want to? After surviving on a diet of maizemeal porrige in the mornings, cold maizemeal balls at lunch and "styve pap" (hard porrige) in the evenings while in the bush I can most categorically state that it is not a pleasant diet. Even mopane worms make a nice change. Also, oddly enough, no lime is used when maize is cooked african style. I can also confirm that maize beer is foul.

It is merely another reason why my lodrilli initiate stays with these odd Orlanthi types in the Risklands. That, and the almost complete lack of Yelm types to order him around. (We shan't mention the prison sentence waiting for him back home).

Nick Brooke:
mentioned that in most games giving birth is not a major part of game play. Hmmm, this must make our group rather odd - in both of our last campaign this seems to have played (or be playing) a major role. What, go hunt broo? Never, the ernalda initiate is nearly due! And being the only Uroxi who has experienced his wife's birth pains I can say that destroying chaos is much more fun!

The Seattle miniminicon:
I can only urge as many people who have easy access to Seattle to try and make it - the more the merrier. As the local Lodrilli I can assure you that the beer will NOT be the watered down stuff that the Americans call beer (which incidentally contains maize (corn syrup)) but decent stuff. Oh, the gaming should be fun too.
