Hi All

        Sandy et al.

I am definately pro Hippopotimi in Dara Happa. Why else are they called HIPPOs.Now of course we must come us with an adequate mythical explaination of their relationship with the protohorse Hippos.

They still have their teeth so they were not ripped out by ?ZZ? Their claws were blinted but not removed. They lost their wings, but sought shelter in the *alien* element of water in order to avoid the further suffering that was meeted out on Hippos. They still retain their fierce firey nature, but have become heavy and bloated by association with water.

So a first stab at the myth:

After the wings were torn from the herd of Hippos the herd became scattered. One group ran to hide in the tall grasses and reeds beside the Oslir river. When danger threatened they retreated further into the reeds at the side of the river. Danger came on and they were forced every nearer the water. Eventually they were forced to the stony river bank and they had no other choices but meet danger and fight or sramble over the hard slippery stones into the *alien* water. Some stayed and fought and were heard of no more, but others sommoned their courage and begged

shelter of the waters of the Oslir. The Oslir which has always been loyal to Yelm sheltered the remnants of his herd under the flowing waters. Unfortunately hippos had already suffered much with the loss of their wings and also their sharp claws had been worn down on the stones of the river bank. However they still retained their huge sharp teeth. While sheltering under the water the Oslir provided them with plenty of food and they rapidly grew fat as they could not run swiftly enough to burn it all off. Thus hippos grew fatter and became Hippopotimus.

Cheers
