[Argrath and the Art of Holding Wyter]

Depends on what you mean by Wyter Magic. If you believe that the units summon/form their wyter to drive of the attacking spirits, then I must disagree. The spirit units sent against each other are the Red Phantoms, the Scarlet Spectres, the Crimson Ghosts, the Reds under the Beds and all other nasties mentioned in the Argrath Saga, ie they are all masses of spirits not one huge spirit that has crimson bats for breakfast. I believe the units that you mention are able to defeat the spirits sent against them cause they are magically tough and have access to some spirit magics that allow them to damage the attacking spirits instead of casting spirit block and hoping they go away. They could gain this through the use of their wyter.

The Lunar and Sartarite magicians units in DP are different units, (IMO), from the Massed Magical Units (Priest) in Sandy's Warhamster Rules. I think the DP units are more akin to Harald's suggestion of a Priestly Unit summoning huge numbers of Spirits and sending them to some far away place. The DSM (defensive spirit magic) of Dragon Pass is more akin to one of Sandy's Priestly Units attached to a army unit.

Btw I notice that the names of the Sartarite Spirits are all missing. Possible recognition of Evil Magic being practiced perhaps?

If you mean summon huge amounts of spirits a la Dragon Pass then yes I agree (with the possible exception of the stormwalkers) This really only appears with Agrath among the Sartarites and the Lunars after Sheng. (I think the massed magic units mentioned in the zero wane chronicles are the bog standard priestly unit in Warhamster!). I really only meant on the scale of a regimental spirit or clan ancestor and that the more powerful ones have some special ability (like Nightjumping).

>OK, new and expanded theory. Aptanace was the first Kralorelan cultural
>hero, in the distant past when men were new and Yelm ruled. In this
>time society was quite primitive. The only thing really remembered
>about Aptanace is his name.

Plus a few standard teachings of which the surviving documents do not exist but have come down to us, second and third-hand. Much like Pythagorus.

>Then, when Shavaya? instituted the Kralorelan way, the ancient hero
>was used as a figure to ascribe the new rules to.

Sounds fine by me.
