IMHO Sir Ethilrist took his White Horse Troop to Hell via the Hellcrack and exitied another way. He already had substantial knowledge of the geography (physical and spiritual) of Hell - like all professionals, he did his research thoroughly and with care. But he was the first to tread that path - a true sign of a Hero.
