Andrew Behan asks how Sir Ethilrist traveled to Hel. This is not specified anywhere that I know of. However, Muse Roost (his home) is said to connect to Hel via it's deepest dungeons; this is how his troopers get to Hel to perform the rituals garnering a demon-horse. Perhaps Muse Roost is built where it is, to take advantage of a 'natural' cleft in the structure of the world?
Other tried and true methods of going to Hel; sail down Magasta's Whirlpool (or fly down, if you can), get Cragspider to let you use _her_ tunnel, sail to the Gates of Dawn or Dusk, travel to the Hero Plane & hang a left, perform a LightBringers Quest, join the Humakti & die.
