We at one stage had an extremely silly theory about Gloranthan physics, based around the idea that the Gloranthan equivalent of the atom was actually the Rune - a flask of water being filled with many very small water runes, for example.

Then it becomes obvious that many of their physical properties actually arise from their shape - Dark and Light runes are smooth and round, so they tumble over each other easily and offer virtually no resistance to the touch. Air runes are not quite round, they have that spiral catch, so they offer a bit more resistance. Water runes offer substantially more, as they catch on each other quite easily. And Earth runes naturally pack very tight, potentially making something very hard and dense.

There was also a theory about the apparent lack of terminal velocity in RQ2 being due to Orlanth moving his air runes out from your path....

        Cheers
