Jim summarises Sandy's description of troll psychology as "appetite checked by
fear". Since both appetite and fear are prominent aspects of Darkness, this
pretty much clinches it for me. (Not that the underlying psychological theory
will make much difference to the way I react to trolls: they still eat babies,
after all).
