I believe it was on the Daily, and hence non-canonical. I believe elves are vegetarians; while they have a large plant nature, and even have greenery, they don't do any significant amount of photosynthesis, and need to eat food from which lots of nutritional content hasn't already been removed. Elves are a lot more active than plants, after all.
