Nick on tea-sipping Vormaini pirates:

They have a problem with that, considering that they share their sailing space with the East Islanders who are of course the greatest sailors and naval tacticians of the world. My PCs who are all East Islanders don't drink tea at all, they prefer palm wine. In fact they have just started to think about how to distill it to palm brandy. Not that they really want to drink something like that, but because they want to fill coconut shells with the vile concoction and use them as incendiary missiles.

More seriously though, the eastern seas are heavily dominated by East Islanders. In the second age, the navy of Golden Mokato was invincible and in the third age, the Haragalan tallships pretty much rule the sea lanes of the east.
