I should have thought of Craft Pottery, it is even in Wyrm's Footprints. I thought another amusing craft might be baking. That's right, flaming spear in one hand -- baguette in the other, Garthani of the Loaves comes striding into battle to defend coffee drinkers everywhere from the water-loving, tea drinkers from overseas.
I still have reservations regarding the nature of allied spirits in the form of flames. I can just see Priests of Lodril, wearing their allied spirits in lanterns around their necks, dueling each other by seeing who can overcome the MP of the other's allied spirit with spells like Enhance Gustbran and Enhance Mahone. Whichever priest succeeds in burning the chest hair off the other first wins.
If the allied spirits were flames subject to spells like extinguish, I wouldn't think these allied spirits would live long -- even if they were able to resist the spell with MP vs. MP. Extinguish is just too common a spell.
I guess I will have to cross this bridge when I get there. I did like Pam's ideas about alternate spirits.
